We’re proud to see Wooing Tree Cellar Door and Kitchen featured in Stuff’s latest roundup of must-try Central Otago openings. Located right here at the entrance to Wooing Tree Estate, the new cellar door is more than just a place to sip award-winning wines—it’s fast becoming the neighbourhood’s social heart.
With beautifully designed indoor-outdoor spaces, relaxed dining, and a menu of locally inspired dishes, it’s the perfect spot to unwind just steps from home. Whether you’re enjoying a long lunch, an afternoon tasting, or a Friday evening with friends, the cellar door offers something truly special.
Here’s what they had to say….
Ever-popular Wooing Tree wines unveiled a fabulous new tasting room at the end of last year and, with it, a spacious indoor-outdoor eatery. Already a massive hit with the locals, it has a diverse seasonal menu of crowd-pleasing platters and international flavours; desserts are especially good as the chef is a former chocolatier. Pull up a pew outside with a glass of their famous ‘Blondie’ bubbles or ever-popular rosé and some delicious bites while you put the world to rights; or go through the whole tasting with one of the staff, then settle in for lunch with the drops you liked the most.
Across the road from Wooing Tree is the much photographed Big Fruit Sculpture. Nearby Highlands Motorsport Park’s newest attraction also has its own big fruit sculpture, a Sanga’s Pie and more on their quirky newly opened 18 hole mini-golf course. It’s easy to spend most of the day here, exploring the museum, go karts, race track activities, mini golf and, when nature calls, visiting the poshest loos around at their Loo with a View.
