Introducing The Grove at Wooing Tree

A new chapter is coming to Wooing Tree Estate. We’re excited to confirm the sale of our dedicated visitor accommodation block to respected New Zealand developer Redwood Group, the team behind standout residential projects in Queenstown and Nelson.

Founded in 1992, Redwood Group has delivered over $1 billion worth of projects across New Zealand, including Greenmeadows Terrace, Kawarau Villas, and Coronet Peak Alpine Villas. They’re known for creating thoughtfully designed communities, backed by strong partnerships and a track record of consistently delivering exceptional results for investors, buyers, and neighbourhoods.

Their latest project, The Grove, will see 47 architecturally designed two- and three-bedroom homes developed on Wooing Tree Avenue, alongside the new Cellar Door and underpass. The site was always intended in our masterplan to help meet Cromwell’s growing need for visitor accommodation.

The Grove homes are approved for 365-day visitor accommodation use, but they can also be used as full-time residences, offering flexibility for owners to live in them permanently or rent them out short- or long-term.

“We had always planned for visitor accommodation at Wooing Tree Estate,” says Steve Farquharson, co-owner of Wooing Tree Vineyard. “The Grove will be a great addition to both Wooing Tree Estate and Cromwell.”

Designed to blend with Central Otago’s rugged beauty, the homes will feature stone, timber, and metal finishes, along with private outdoor spaces and sleek interiors complete with stone benchtops and glass splashbacks.

“The Grove is really well placed—right next to the Cellar Door, and with the underpass, visitors and residents are just a short walk to town,” says Tony Gapes of Redwood Group. “The development looks exceptional, and we’re excited to bring something special to the neighbourhood.”

Importantly, The Grove has always been envisioned as a dedicated visitor accommodation precinct within Wooing Tree Estate. It will complement and integrate smoothly with the existing community.

The Grove at Wooing Tree – Highlights:

  • 47 two- and three-bedroom homes
  • Floor plans from 74–85 sqm

Understanding Where The Grove Fits In

The map below shows the layout of key areas within Wooing Tree Estate, including the site for The Grove (visitor accommodation) – a new residential offering with approval for 365-day visitor accommodation or long-term living.

Located along Wooing Tree Avenue, The Grove sits beside the newly opened Wooing Tree Cellar Door & Kitchen, and is a short walk from the pedestrian underpass and cycleway connection into Cromwell township.

The Grove is positioned separately from the planned hospitality and retail precinct, and distinct from the private homes within the neighbourhood’s residential areas.

Nearby, you’ll also find the BestStart early learning centre. Together, these features are part of a carefully considered masterplan that blends lifestyle, community, and connectivity — with The Grove adding a flexible living option that supports Cromwell’s evolving accommodation needs.
