Olympic track cyclist, Americas Cup cyclor and sailor, Simon van Velthooven and Blackcaps coach, Gary Stead are joining the Wooing Tree Estate community.
Simon and Olivia van Velthooven were among the earliest purchasers at Wooing Tree Estate in Stage 1. Their new home was recently finished by the Barrett Homes building team and is the first show home open to visitors at Wooing Tree Estate. The van Velthooven’s plan to move to Cromwell permanently after the 2024 America’s Cup.
Simon van Velthooven says the initial attraction of Wooing Tree Estate was the high standard of architectural design as well as the affordability of the sections. But the more time he and Olivia spent in Cromwell the more they realised it had everything their growing family would need.
“Cromwell has a great community and infrastructure. The lake’s only a five minute walk away and with the new underpass to the town and all the bike trails and all the ski fields on your doorstep – we think it’s going to be awesome.
Meanwhile Gary and Rachel Stead have purchased a section in Stage 2 of the Estate and when title is issued in October they will commence building their new holiday home with a local builder. The Steads say they were attracted to the high spec design of the neighbourhood and its proximity to Lake Dunstan, the golf course, Cromwell town and the numerous cycle and walking routes available.
“We looked at all sorts of different options in Central Otago, but what we liked was it would be a brand new development set among the vines with really nice design aspects,” says Rachel.
